Stirling Moss, born in 1929, is without doubt one of the most versatile racing drivers in history - competing and winning in Formula 1, 2 and 3 and sport, touring, rally and speed record events. Throughout his professional career, which started in 1949 and ended soon after a horific crash at Goodwod in 1962 from which he miraculously survived, Moss won an astonishing 222 races.
The British Grand Prix of July 20, 1957 at Aintree was an historic day both for the Vanwall team and Moss - it was the first World Championship race victory ever for a British driver in a British made car - and Stirling became the pride of Britain.
