It is obvious to any motorsport enthusiast that for the Porsche Works Team losing is not an option. After they suffered defeat in 1985 at the hands of Reinhold Joest's Porsche 956, the Stuttgart squadron was back at Le Mans, determined to bring the laurel back to Zuffenhausen. In a race which ended with seven Porsche cars in the first seven places, the works 962 driven by Derek Bell, Hans-Joachim Stuck and Al Holbert crossed the finish line first, with a margin of 8 laps over the second place finisher.
